Start up a junk removal business today

With just a few spare hours a week, you can easily make $25 an hour cash if you start a junk removal business.

First, get a business license. Search for "get a business license in (my state).Every state has an online licensing program. The process takes 10 minutes. Most licenses are $50. Keep this license in your work truck. Some customers will ask to see your license.

Next, advertise on Craigslist. Check your competitors ads. Write down their pricing. Set your prices 10% less than your competitors. You will want to be affordable as a new business. Include a photo of yourself in your Craigslist ad. The photo will often double your calls and emails. Be sure to write an ad that includes all the terms your customers will be searching for, such as: junk hauling, junk removal, landfill, furniture, recycling, yard debris, move out, etc.

Customers will contact you wanting an estimate. Get important data from the customer. This includes the location of the junk, what type of junk, and where the customer's home is. Provide an estimate that is profitable for you. Don't forget that you have gasoline and dump expenses of $65 per job.

Finally, do the job. You may not have a truck. Rent one for $20. Show up on time or 5 minutes early. Fill your truck. Be smart about packing items so as not to waste space. Leave flyers with the neighbors. There will be items that can be resold on Craigslist. Drop those off at home, clean them up, and list them on Craigslist. Dispose of the remaining items at the dump.

It's a relatively simple service that people pay cash for, and usually pay generously. You don't even have to take on every job. Decline very large jobs. If it involves dangerous chemicals, pass on it. There's enough small, easy jobs on Craigslist to make some really needed extra cash each week.
